Craft Beer Pairings at the Acropolis
Craft breweries are on the rise throughout the country and are producing unique flavor combinations. These brews are refreshing on their own, but are taken to a new level when paired with the spices of food. Whether it is the complement of rich chocolate to a stout or the contrast of hops with meat, these beer pairings create a flavor all their own.
Terrapin Hopsecutioner- Athens, Georgia
This IPA combines six different hop varieties to create strong and balanced beer. Bitter for its style, this American- Style India Pale Ale has a floral, citrus hop character. This brew is ideal for a hop lover. The Terrapin Hopsecutioner pairs well with our Cheddar Cheeseburger and House Fries.
Highland Gaelic Ale- Ashville, North Carolina
The deep amber color and malty body make the Gaelic Ale the most popular beer of the Highland Brewing Company. This American Ale expertly balances the malty sweetness with a delicate hop bitterness. The smooth finish and bitter bite of the Highland Gaelic Ale pair well with the North Atlantic Cod Fish and Chips.
Sweetwater 420- Atlanta, Georgia
Sweetwater 420 is a West Coast Style Pale Ale that blends hops to create a crisp finish. Not overly heavy or light, this ale is very refreshing and easy to enjoy. Hints of orange, grapefruit and hop spices blend to create a balanced, smooth finish. This brew complements the flavors found in our Grilled Fresh Salmon Filet.
Wiseacre Tiny Bomb American Pilsner- Memphis, Tennessee
The classic Czech Republic style and the Artesian wells of the area make a unique pilsner. Each batch is spiked with 50 pounds of local wildflower honey to produce a mellow and smooth beer. The Applewood smoked bacon of the quail poppers pair nicely with the sweet honey notes.
McHale’s Scottish Pride- Chattanooga, Tennessee
This gold medal award winner at the 2014 Great American Beer Festival is arguably one of the best Scottish- Style Ales. Using traditional yeast from Scotland, the final product has a complex malt flavoring and dry finish. This smooth brown to red ale pairs well with the sautéed squash, red potatoes and tender lamb chops.
Duck Rabbit Milk Stout- Farmville, North Carolina
A full bodied traditional stout, this number one selling beer is brewed with lactose. The combination of milk sugar, brewer’s yeast and roasted grains give the brew a subtle sweetness and full flavor. With a dark chocolate hint and touch of espresso this milk stout pairs well with our Sugarless Chocolate Lover’s Cake.
