The Same Great Taste with a New Look

Acropolis Mediterranean Grill is planning a Grand Reopening in early October. The “Celebrate Life, Eat Well” event runs from Oct. 6- 11th, and will showcase recent improvements to the menu, décor and new team members. This second generation family restaurant is one of the few locally owned and managed establishments around Hamilton Place Mall. During the week, the owners will feature chef specials, family style meals, a cooking demonstration, wine tasting, patio party, and giveaways. The updated restaurant décor supports the Greek lifestyle – encouraging gathering with family and friends, laughter and celebrating life. There is a larger bar area, an expanded patio with outdoor seating, a new layout of the restaurant and the addition of a community table. The changes, however, extend beyond the décor and furnishings.

Nick, former co-owner of the award winning Niko’s Southside Grill, has been busy making changes to the menu, as well.  The menu incorporates more of the Mediterranean diet which has been around for thousands of years, and offers lighter, healthier options.  Nick is also taking many of his Greek family’s recipes, which have been served at the Acropolis for over 19 years, and stepping them up a notch.

Many of the menu improvements are due to sourcing better ingredients.  Getting more connected to the food is very important to Nick, his family and culinary staff. For example, the restaurant now buys whole fish and prepares it from start to finish, in-house. They purchase more local ingredients, including Grey Friars and Riverview Farms grits and produce. They acquire local products from smaller distributors that carry Signal Mountain Farms products, Mayfield items and North Georgia peaches.

Nick was very pleased when Chef Mac Casteel re-joined his team as Head Chef of Acropolis Grill.  Chef Casteel was the head chef at NIko’s Southside Grill the last 2 years it was opened.  You’ll see some of the favorite specialties from Niko’s on the new Acropolis menu to include Eggplant Napoleon and Farmers Pie.  Nick made the decision to close the Niko’s restaurant so he could focus on his physical rehabilitation after he suffered a spinal injury in 2011.

With the recent addition of off-site catering, Acropolis also serves these delicious foods at events with as many as 300 people attending. Catering presents an opportunity to share selections from their menu with those who may not be familiar with the restaurant or possibly haven’t eaten there lately.

While many things have changed at the restaurant, you can still look forward to seeing Betty at the restaurant daily to oversee operations and add that special personal touch.

In online reviews, customers praise the restaurant for the new look and a revitalized atmosphere that avoids the corporate vibe so common with chain restaurants. They also notice the freshly prepared ingredients, great drink specials, affordable prices, courteous service, and generous food portions. Acropolis truly is a neighborhood gem for those craving a romantic night out or a family feast. The owners appreciate the community’s support and look forward to many more years of providing a special place where people can “celebrate life and eat well.”
